Unity House depends on the generosity of individuals, corporations, government entities, and foundations to bridge the gap between state revenues and operational expenses, and to provide invaluable support for the agency’s most important services and programs.

Support Unity House and know that your gift is helping to provide essential programs and services for the individuals with disabilities we serve. You may make a credit card gift securely online, or print out a donation form and mail it to Unity House with your check. Either way, your contribution helps support our mission of enriching the lives of people in recovery, coping with a mental illness and/or diagnosed with a developmental disability.

Four Fund Options

Donations to Unity House may be made to our three established funds, or to a specific program of your choosing.

The Fund for Unity House

Unity House’s annual fund provides unrestricted dollars to support the agency’s general operations. As substantial statewide budget cuts continue, we need your help more than ever. Help us continue our mission of empowering lives and securing futures by making a donation to the Fund for Unity House. Your dollars will be used where they are needed the most. Please consider making an unrestricted gift today to ensure our continued excellence and success tomorrow.

The Fred Atkins Community Service Fund

The Frederick J. Atkins Community Service Fund was launched in 2011 with gifts of nearly $4,000 made to Unity House upon Fred’s passing in March 2009. The fund now stands at nearly $30,000. This amount generates enough interest to provide a cash award to the annual Atkins Award recipient, an outstanding individual who volunteers in Cayuga County and who exemplifies Fred’s high moral standards and philanthropic spirit.

Board Discretionary Fund (BDF)

In lieu of an official endowment fund, Unity House has established the Board Discretionary Fund (BDF). The principal in this account is restricted. Funds are invested and interest income is channeled back into the fund. Donors are welcome to contribute financial assets to the BDF with the assurance that they will be held in perpetuity for the benefit of Unity House.

Program-Specific Gifts

Is there a Unity House service or program area that is close to your heart? Chances are it could benefit from your generous donation. Please let us know how you would like us to designate your gift.

Other Ways to Give

Unity House’s Planned Giving Program offers a number of ways to invest in our future while incurring no costs in your lifetime. Simply put, planned giving is any contribution to the agency that exceeds writing a check. Such gifts may be a bequest or donations of cash, stocks and securities, insurance policies, trusts, annuities, real estate, or other tangible assets.

Your financial advisor or attorney can help you make provisions for such gifts. Knowing that your estate will benefit those in need long after you’re gone brings satisfaction now, and ensures our success into the future. Please let us know of your intentions so we may thank you!
